In each of the communities identified, there are special things to see and do. Whether you are looking to see special places, find good things to do in your leisure time, or just want to explore the area, following is a list that may be helpful.
In the City of Ocala, there is the Discovery Science Center, Historic Museum, the Marion Theatre, Brick City Center for the Arts, Tuscawilla Park (great for strolling or fishing), the Reilly Center (home of the Ocala Symphony Orchestra), Fort King (location of the Seminole Indians attack of 1830) Art Walk on the Square the first Friday of every month. Not to be left out is the Ocala Breeders Sales and the Ocala Airport, which boasts it’s own pilot training course. Coming soon, is the World Equine Center, which will have 4 pavillions for competitors, a hotel, and exhibit center. This is near the towns of
Morriston and Williston are famous for its lovely horse farms and the annual Horses in the Sun (HITS) competition, where equestrians from around the world compete for a $1 million purse. Also the location of Devil’s Den, a scuba divers dream into the caverns under Florida.
Belleview claims one of only 350 operating Drive-In Theatres in the entire country, and one of 7 in the entire State. It also boasts a large, open-air Market which has vendors showing their merchandise every weekend. Located within 5 miles of The Villages, it has easy access to many stores, restaurants and live entertainment which is ongoing in The Villages.
Dunnellon is a quaint town full of antique shoppes and famous for the beautiful, Rainbow River. Kayaking, canoeing and river boat tours always bring nature lovers to the area.
Beverly Hills and Inverness share close proximity to the Crystal River, which leads into the Gulf of Mexico. Restaurants offer water views, where you can dine while watching boaters, sea gulls, and occasional dolphins. Manatees are abundant in the nearby area of Homossassa.
The Ocala Waterway is a newly developed area in the southwest corridor of Marion County, and offers new construction, newer schools, as well as, hospitals, medical facilities, shopping and restaurants.
